This is a collection to all things I recommend checking out, including, but not limited to: media I enjoy, cool websites, and more!
Books

I don't read nearly as many books as I'd like to, but below are some I've especially enjoyed!

  • Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer: WILD as hell, I don't think any book has ever kept me awake at night like this one has. An anonymous group of scientists investigates a bizarre phenomenon known as Area X. Just good ol' classic sci-fi horror!
  • House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski: I can't NOT include this one if I'm listing all the weird horror novels I've read. Complete mindfuck with a surprising amount of heart to it.
  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson: Freaky sister complex horror my beloved... I will forever be enamored by Merricat Blackwood.
  • And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie: I have a love/hate relationship with Agatha Christie, but damn do I love a good mystery (of which this is!). Definitely pick up a modern edited copy for language reasons.
  • Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman: I watched the show before I read the book (oops), but the book is even better.

Comics

Combining comics, manga, and graphic novels here!

  • Beasts of Burden
  • Witch Hat Atelier
  • Chainsaw Man
  • Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
  • Victoria's Electric Coffin
  • The Summer Hikaru Died
  • Through the Woods by Emily Carroll

Games

I could list a whole bunch of big name games that I've dumped an untold amount of hours into (side-eyes animal crossing), but I'll keep this section mostly for indie games!

  • Oxenfree
  • Night in the Woods
  • Okami
  • Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (999)
  • Omori
  • Elevator Hitch
  • Ib
  • Anatomy
  • Control

Audio

Podcasts and music!

  • The Magnus Archives: if we know each other you probably already know this one. Primarily episodic horror anthology audiodrama with a great underlying plot
  • Malevolent: audiodrama about a guy who loses his site to the lovecraftian being that he's stuck in a body with. A bit more intense than TMA, but has some really compelling characters
  • Nightfall: this is an old Canadian radio show from the early 80s! A mix of audio adaptions of classic horror short stories and original fiction. Episodes can be found on both spotify and youtube
  • SCNTFC: composer behind the Oxenfree soundtracks!
  • Hadestown by Anaïs Mitchell: I'm really not a musical person, but I looove this one so so very much. Retelling of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice drawing a lot of inspiration from 1930s america
  • Ulysses Dies at Dawn by The Mechanisms: all Mechs albums are fun, but this one's my favorite! Greek myth retelling set in cyberpunk space

Interactive

Fiction teetering between a game and a short story. I always enjoy these but don't seem to play a lot, so if you've got recs, hit me up!

Web

Cool websites and other fun corners of the internet!

  • Space Email: send and receive messages from any point in time
  • Omori game page: archived version of the promotional site for Omori
  • Window Swap: take a peek through windows all around the world
